SCOTTS VALLEY -- A 37-year-old Santa Cruz woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI Wednesday after a man wearing only boxer shorts was spotted clinging to her SUV's roof rack on Mount Hermon Road.

Several people called police to report the man about 12:25 p.m., said Scotts Valley police Sgt. Wayne Bellville. The man was standing on the running board of a silver Toyota Highlander with his hands on its roof rack, witnesses said.

Officers caught up with the woman, Sonja Helena Landis, at the Skypark dog park near Kings Village Road and Bluebonnet Lane. He was also at the park.

She and the man knew each other and the man lives on Mount Hermon Road, police said. Landis, who was in the dog park, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

She remained in Santa Cruz County Jail on Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $5,000 bail, according to jail records.
