HESPERIA, Calif.—Authorities say an acid spill has forced the evacuation of a truck stop on the route between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Scott Fanus of the San Bernardino County Fire Department says 600 gallons of acid leaked from a truck in the fueling area at Pilot Truck stop in Hesperia off Interstate 15 shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/199Nu9a) reports that about three hours later fire crews and others had transferred the remaining hydrochloric acid in the 50,000-gallon tank to other trucks, but the truck stop remained evacuated for the cleanup and it was unclear how long that would take.

There were no reports of any injuries.
