Larry LaFrance and Dustin Hurst won their 2nd straight Southern Humboldt Masters golf tournament at Redwood Empire Golf and Country Club in Fortuna on Sunday, June 15.
LaFrance and Hurst won the two-day event with a gross score of 171. Rob Mandell and Jeremy Rasmussen took the net title with a score of 154.
A total of 66 two-person teams competed in the 53rd Southern Humboldt Masters. The event features teams with REG and CC members paired with a guest or two guests. Annually, this is the biggest event that REG and CC hosts.
On Saturday, the teams play a scramble. On Sunday, one best ball counts on the 49 and both balls count on the back 9. Even par for gross over two days was 180. Sixty-six teams competed which is a total of 132 amateur golfers.
Taking 2nd in the gross division was the brother team of Bruce and Jim Collins at 178 and third was taken by Josh Leong and Rio Kuteira at 179. In the net division, Jason McCanless and Matt Pigeon finished 2nd at 157.7 while Rick Stenberg and Manny Pabalate took 3rd at 159.7
