College of the Redwoods head baseball coach Bob Brown will be taking a year off from coaching next year to focus on spending time with his young family. His replacement on an interim one-year contract for the 2009 season will be current assistant coach Todd Zeigler.

Zeigler has been a CR baseball assistant coach for 12 seasons. Currently, he also teaches in the physical education department and in the Disabled Student Program and Services adapted PE program. He played baseball at College of the Siskiyous from 1990-92 before making the transition to teaching and coaching. Zeigler has Bachelors and Masters degrees in Kinesiology from Humboldt State and has served as an assistant coach for the Eureka Falcons American Legion team and the Humboldt All-Stars (now the Humboldt Steelheads).

Zeigler is best known for his successful stint as the head coach of the Eureka Falcons from 2000-2007. The Falcons captured five out of eight District championships under his tenure. During his time with the Falcons, thirty players have moved on to play college baseball including Will Morgan, Tyson Fisher, Eric Giacone, Steve and Brad Morgan among many others.

recruiting local-grown talent from the North Coast and providing a strong fall baseball program for the Corsairs which he hopes will build the foundation for a successful program next season.
