The American Legion Southern Humboldt 76ers line up to bump fists after yet another win by the team on July 20. The Sixers ended their campaign by going 1-2 at the Area 1 State Tournament in Fairfield. After losing to Susanville to open the tourney, the 76ers bounced back with a come-from-behind win, scoring 3 runs in their final at bat to top Yolo/Davis by a score of 11-10. They outhit the host team Fairfield but the timely hits were not there and they were eliminated in a 11-3 loss. Colton Stokesberry, Cole Moody, Cade McNamara and Troy Langley led the team with multiple hits over the tournament. Myles Borgelin, Nolan Stokesberry, Zach Rocha and Logan Thrap logged quality innings on the mound with Thrap, getting the win. “27-8 is a great record,” said head coach Kellen Maynard after returning from the trip south. “This was the best baseball team I have ever coached and it was emotional to say good-bye after the game. They were a great group of kids that were so fun.”
