Fortuna Sunrise Cemetery will be holding their annual “Day of the Dead -- Dia De Los Muertos” Celebration on Saturday.

The event is sponsored by Friends of the Fortuna Cemetery District with support from the McLean Foundation, Don Brown State Farm Insurance and Los Bagels.

The event will take place at the Fortuna Sunrise Cemetery located above Newburg Park to celebrate “Day of the Dead.” The event is free and appropriate for all ages.

Walking tours begin at 11 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Kristy Carlsen from the College of the Redwoods will give a history of the “Day of the Dead” at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m.

Local band Real de Mexico will provide mariachi music from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be Day of the Dead arts and crafts along with Mexican hot chocolate and “dead bread” throughout the day.
