Jude King, 2, digs into the cupcake she won at the Harvest Festival held Saturday at Fortuna Union High School. The event featured a costume contest, face painting, puppet shows, relays, dunking for doughnuts, bobbing for apples, games, arts and crafts, and a cupcake walk. Children and their parents also were treated to tamales, pizza, ice cream sundaes, cotton candy, snow cones and baked goods. The festival was put on by students in the FUHS Travel Squad 2009, which is raising funds for a trip to Washington, D.C., New York and Philadelphia. “For many students, this may be the only opportunity they ever have to travel outside of California and experience touring the White House, the Empire State Building, a Broadway play or the Liberty Bell,” spokeswoman Susan McShayne said.
