Press release from Redwood Nation Earth First:

A request for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against Mendocino County and Real Party in Interest Mendocino Forest Products was granted today in Superior Court by Judge Cindy Mayfield.

The TRO accompanies the lawsuit filed in April by Willits Environmental Center and Keep the Code, two local environmental organizations, alleging lack of required environmental review for excavation of almost 900,000 cu. yds. of fill material destined for Caltrans' massive 4-lane interchange on some 30 of wetlands just north of town.

The TRO applies to "excavation and grading" but not to the planned clear cutting and leveling of over 10 acres of forestland on the MFP property.

The next hearing scheduled for Sept. 8, 10:00 am. in courtroom F. Attorney Rose Zoia is representing the plaintiffs. The defendants were represented today by MFP attorney James King.
