The Timeout Sports Pub has been working hard to be a positive part of the community and recently started a celebrity bartending night. Humboldt County 2nd District Supervisor Estelle Fennell recently bartended for ladies' night at the Pub. Fennell is raising money to get the Fortuna Veteran's Building freshly painted.

”They are doing a celebrity bartender series,” Fennell said. “Rex (Bohn) was on last month. I wanted to help the veterans raise some money to re-paint the Memorial Building which really needs it.”

Pub co-owner Keith Coulombe said the event is a great opportunity to give back to the community that supports the business.

”We decided to do this because it has never been done before,” he said. “We will continue to do it once a month with a portion of the proceeds to go back to the celebrity bartender's cause of choice.”

The event was all about the community, Fennell said.

”Keith and Allan (Baird) were happy to arrange a way for us to use it as a fundraiser,” she said. “The vets will get a percentage with a guaranteed minimum.”

For those that would like to get involved in the restoration process of the Fortuna Veteran's Building you can contact Fennell at 476-2392 or visit her at the Veteran's Building during her office hours on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon. If you would like to talk to officers at the Veteran's Building, contact Bill Hummel at 498-4688.

The pub is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 10 p.m., Friday from noon to midnight, Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The pub offerings include beer, wine, specialty drinks, tri-tip sandwiches and wings.

”We are the first true sports pub in Humboldt County,” Coulombe said. “We have eight LED TVs, the longest bar, great staff, and happy customers.” The business also contains a conference room with a television that the local Chamber of Commerce and other organizations have been using for their monthly meetings. The pub has recently added USB ports on the bar, and there is also a separate “End Zone Bar” with a 70-inch TV.

”We are really excited about what is still to come,” Coulombe said. “We are planning soap box derby cars for the AutoXpo and we have a lot of great celebrity bartenders still to come.”
