The Eureka Police Department is investigating the deaths of two men found in a home on the 2100 block of Harris Street this evening.

After receiving a report of an injured person at the house at 5:57 p.m., EPD Chief Andrew Mills said arriving officers found a different scene.

"When officers got here to render first aid, they recognized that there was one male deceased on the floor of the house," Mills said. "They searched the rest of the house to check for any other people injured, and found one more male deceased."

Neighbors began gathering on the other side of Harris Street while investigators moved in and out of the home. The front of the house - mostly hidden behind a few large hedges - was blocked off with yellow crime scene tape.

No details on the individuals or the 911 caller were immediately released.

"We are conducting a death investigation," Mills said.

During the investigation, a handcuffed man wearing a dark blue hoodie over his head was escorted from the property to a police vehicle and driven away. Mills said that he would not give any information on the man, other than that he was being detained.

"At this point, we're talking to him as a potential witness, that's all," Mills said.

Mills said the investigation will continue "until we can collect more information to determine what might have happened at this house." Earlier report:
