Officers with the Arcata Police Department arrested an Arcata man during a traffic stop after they found a stolen gun, Kevlar body armor and a bullet-resistant mask.

Officers stopped 22-year-old Ry Taylor Landen at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday on the 2500 block of Alliance Road. Landen was taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of possession of stolen property.

During the vehicle search, officers found two loaded handguns in the bed of the truck, according to the release. One of the guns, a .357 Smith & Wesson, was reported stolen to the Eureka Police Department in May 2013. The registered owner of the second gun, a .40-caliber Taurus semi-automatic pistol, has not been located.

The APD asks the public to call 822-2428 to report suspicious illegal activity.
