Zachariah Friedland, a 35-year-old Eureka man with two felony arrest warrants who was believed to be traveling with an underage teenage girl, was arrested in Eureka on Friday around 10 a.m., according to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office.
After learning that Friedland was staying in a residence on the 200 block of Huntoon Street in Eureka, sheriff's deputies, U.S. marshals, Humboldt County District Attorney investigators and Eureka police responded and surrounded the house.
Friedland refused to step out of the house when asked by sheriff's deputies, according to the press release. The deputies were allowed to enter the home by another resident in the house. After searching through the house, Friedland was found hiding in an upstairs crawl space under a pile of clothes, according to the press release. Sheriff's deputies then arrested Friedland for his outstanding arrest warrants and was booked into the Humboldt County jail.
