Authorities investigating the previous day's armed robbery of the Palco Pharmacy in Scotia found what appeared to be the getaway truck on Wednesday in Hydesville.

Humboldt County Sheriff's Detectives at approximately 9:30 a.m. discovered the truck parked in front of a residence in the 2900 block of Johnson Road, according to a Humboldt County Sheriff's Office press release.

Sheriff's deputies, Fortuna Police and California Highway Patrol officers surrounded the residence. Nearby Hydesville Elementary School was notified by the sheriff's office and kept students in class as a precaution, according to the release.

After attempts to contact the owner of the residence failed, a Humboldt County Superior Court search warrant was obtained for the property. Sheriff's Office SWAT team members entered and discovered that it was empty, according to the release.

The suspect in Tuesday's robbery was described as male, approximately 5'6” tall, 150 lbs., blue eyes, wearing greenish brown utility pants, a green hooded rain jacket and a white hockey mask.

The sheriff's office asks anyone with information about this case to contact Sheriff's Detective Jennifer Turner at 707-268-3642 or Cheryl Franco at 707-268-3644, or to call the sheriff's office crime tip line at 707-268-2539.
