The Cuddeback Parent Teacher Organization is holding their annual Halloween Carnival at the Cuddeback School on Friday from 5 p.m. until the end of the live auction, which begins at 8 p.m.
A barbecue dinner with hamburgers, hot dogs, chili dogs, nachos, salad and more will begin at 5 p.m. with a silent auction running throughout the evening. Carnival games will begin at 6 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. to prepare for the live auction.
Carnival games will include the traditional and unique, said Lindsey Reback, a teacher at Cuddeback and volunteer for the event.
”We will have a cake walk, black light bowling, dime toss, sand art, fish pond, plinko, primping parlor, cupcake walk, and much more,” Reback said. “The highlight of the night will be the haunted bus and graveyard put on by the 8th grade.”
At 8 p.m., when the live auction begins, they will be auctioning off items including bikes, cords of wood, Fire and Light wares, and much more, Reback said.
”100 percent of the money raised will stay at the school for classroom supplies, field trips, their End of Year Celebration for students and families, Carlotta Community Center Holiday Project, Santa's Workshop, End of Year picnic, and various other contributions for Cuddeback Kids,” Reback said.
Reback said the Santa's Workshop is an amazing night where the kids and their families come and have dinner together.
”The kids get to make homemade presents for their families and last year there were over 20 stations for the kids to choose from,” Reback said. “Stations included frames, bird houses, foot scrubs, jewelry, wax candles, ornaments, and more.”
The Carlotta Community Center project is helping families that need a little extra help over the holidays with food, jackets and toys.
The end of the year celebration is the last day of school. Cuddeback PTO brings in face painters, balloon artists, a reptile man, petting zoo, Zumba, glitter art, a photo booth and more. The idea is to just have fun and celebrate. The event also hosts a barbecue for all the families.
”Each year the PTO gives gift cards to all the teachers to them purchase school supplies for their students and also in past years the PTO purchased TVs for all the classrooms,” Reback said. “We also take the whole school in one big field trip to the movies right before the holidays.”
