The Fortuna Library is very excited about the classes they are offering to the public. Librarian Chris Cooper and his staff are working hard to expand the programming offered at the library to the public.
”Our library is so underutilized,” Fortuna Chamber of Commerce Board Member Tiara Brown said. “Chris and his team are working very hard to add programming that will be beneficial to all ages, which is extremely beneficial to all of Fortuna.”
With the reading programs already in place for teens this new addition of a jewelry-making class will give them something else interesting and creative to do. The jewelry-making class will be taught by Jezyka McCabe from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 12th and 19th. McCabe said, “This is an introductory class where I will be teaching aspiring jewelers how to use jump rings, apply appropriate techniques for using jewelry pliers, how to use stems to make dangle earrings, and much more.”
Participants can make three pieces including earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. McCabe will be consulting participants on the types, colors, and styles of beaded jewelry the class will be using. Jezyka sells her jewelry at Hair Pros Plus in Campton Heights.
”Jezyka has had her jewelry in my shop for over 6 months now and I think they are wonderful. She has a nice variety for all ages,” said Hair Pros Plus owner Patricia Bruga, whose shop takes appointments and walk-ins.
Space is limited for the workshop, so those who are interested are encouraged to pre-register by coming into the Fortuna Library, calling 725-6731, or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
