Race fans saw some close racing at Redwood Aces Raceway on May 11.
REAL STOCK: Michael Lawrence won the Trophy Dash. Tyler Avelar took the early lead in the Heat race, but Nick Green got past him and Avelar brushed the back straight wall handing the second spot to Lawrence. Green won, Lawrence was second and Avelar was third. Matt Simon took the lead in the Main Event followed by Green, Harvey Holm and Lawrence. Green at times was trying to get past Simon but Simon would pull away. On the last lap, Simon got loose on the back straight and Green took the lead and the win with Simon ending up second and Lawrence finishing in third.
ROAD RUNNERS: Jordon Paiment won the Trophy Dash. In the first of two Heat races, cars spinning brought out the yellow before a lap was completed. Brett Murrell hit the turn 2 wall after the restart and the yellow was out again. Eugene Palmer took the lead but Gary Klinetobe soon took it away with Ken Barrett also getting past Palmer. At the checker it was Klinetobe, Barrett and Palmer. In the second Heat, Tim Abeyta took the lead but Kolby Jackson and Ryun Leazur got past him. Paiment was on the move and took over third spot. Leazur and Paiment got past Jackson with Paiment dashing past Leazur for the lead. Jarrett Mayo got past Leazur along with Jackson following him past too. Paiment won, Mayo was second and Jackson was third. Klinetobe took the lead at the start of the Main Event with
THUNDER ROADSTERS: Tommy Payne won the Trophy Dash. Lonnie Tamboury took the lead in the Heat race followed by Alan Olson, David Henderson and Chris Sarvinski. Henderson managed to get past Olson to finish in second spot with Olson in third. Alan Olson jumped into the lead in the Main Event followed by Henderson, Tamboury and Payne. Henderson got past Olson for the lead. Tamboury tagged OIson coming into turn 4 and they both spun. Henderson held the lead with Payne, Mike Ward and Sarvinski in tow and they finished in that order.
SPORTSMAN: Brandon Barnwell won the Trophy Dash. Dennis DelBiaggio returned to racing and was fast qualifier in the class. Kevin Estep of Clear Lake Oaks, CA returned to the Acres also. Kenny Demello took the lead but Angelo Marcelli took it away on lap 3. DelBiaggio spun and brought out the yellow. After the restart, Barnwell got past Marcelli for the win with Estep finishing third. Demello took the lead at the start of the Main Event but Estep and Barnwell had contact coming into turn 3 and it appeared they got locked together with Estep slamming into the turn 3 wall and Barnwell being drug along. Both cars sustained heavy front end damage and were towed to the pits for the night. After the restart, Marcelli jumped into the lead with DelBiaggio in tow. DelBiaggio got past Marcelli for the win with Marcelli in second, Demello in third and Ken Hallis finishing fourth.
