Fortuna's Eel River Brewing Company loves a good reason to celebrate and has planned a festival celebration on Earth Day. Earth Day E.R.B will take place on April 22 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Eel River Brewery, in the outdoor beer garden. There will be no charge for admission.
Two years ago the brewery released a seasonal Earth Day ale they called Earth Thirst, a double hopped India Pale Ale. There will plenty of the brew on tap and in 22 ounce bottles this year for the festivities, along with the other Eel River Brewery favorites. According to the brewers, Earth Thirst is a strong, hoppy beer, with a floral aroma and citrus flavors.
This year the Earth Day celebration is expanding and the festival will include live music, a bicycle show, and many interactive booths from local businesses and non-profit organizations. The Earth Day E.R.B. party will feature the Compost Mountain Boys, music with a mix of guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, vocals with sweet harmonies and good energy.
”Compost Mountain Boys always seems to get toes tapping, hands clapping, and lots of people up and dancing,” said Brewery Marketing Manager Nicole Schwartz. “The music is going to be incredible,” she said, “but this is so much more than a concert -- this is a festival.”
Henderson Center Bicycles will present the first-ever Earth Day Bike Show. Check out the latest models of environmentally friendly transportation and learn all about the benefit of riding bicycles from their expert staff.
The tie-dye booth will be open for business as supplies last. Local artists Stephanie Gurley and Marissa Bourne will be on hand to assist festivalgoers in designing their own tie-die creation. Bring your own T-shirt or purchase one from Eel River Brewing Company.
Eel River Resource Recovery, Redwood Coast Energy Authority, Humboldt Coffee Company, and KJ Hanz Fitness and Kettlebell Sport are just some of the local businesses hosting booths at Earth Day E.R.B., with lots of information on the ways their businesses are contributing to the cause of making the planet a healthier place. Lost Coast 4X4's, Surfrider Foundation, and Ocean Conservatory will also be there with informational booths. By Nieves Handmade Natural Bodycare, featured in People Magazine and The New York Times, will be hosting a booth as well. By Nieves recently moved their company headquarters from San Francisco to Petrolia and they are excited to meet the community and share information about the advantages of using their skin care products.
Schwartz said, “The Eel River Brewing Company pub will be running happy hour prices on their beers during the festival and those who carpool or come to Earth Day E.R.B. using earth friendly transportation will be receive a 10 percent discount on food.”
