Four team members and one alternate will travel to Pasadena. The competition presents an opportunity for the students to earn scholarship money, and the top team advances to the national competition in April, held in Baltimore.
Stacy Chatfield, culinary arts teacher, and “chef mentor” Dan McHugh (executive chef for the Ingomar Club) will chaperone the students during their trip to Pasadena. Chatfield teaches Culinary Arts I, II and III. Students in the Culinary Arts Club have been fundraising for their trip to New York City in May.
Classes in culinary arts are sponsored by the Humboldt County Office of Education through the Humboldt Regional Occupational Program. For more information on the Culinary Arts classes at Fortuna Union High School, contact Stacy Chatfield, HROP Culinary Arts at 725-4461 or email email@example.com.
