During the month of February the Ambrosini School Community will put a little more focus than normal on “loving” according to Principal Amy Betts. Although the school strives to incorporate many positive characteristics in their students, the focus on loving is special, as it will reach out to local homeless outreach programs.

Ambrosini is encouraging its students to donate mittens and socks throughout the month of February. These items will then be gathered and distributed to local agencies to assist those in need in their community.

The lesson does not stop there for the students, teachers, and families of Ambrosini. According to Ambrosini, “The classrooms will be reading stories and talking about what it means to be a loving person, not only at home and at school, but in our larger community as well.”

Parents of the students are encouraged to continue the discussion at home by sharing how service to others is an important part of being a good citizen. As these children grow older they will be introduced to active clubs that provide volunteer hours to the community for events and projects.

Many students have gotten an introduction to this “loving” characteristic through Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. In high school, many students will join Interact Club or some other community service club continuing the lessons they have learned through this Ambrosini program.

Principal Betts reflects, “We want our students to understand they are never too young to make a difference.” Betts continues, “When we come together as families, teams, and communities, we can accomplish more than any individual with our acts of kindness that can have big impacts on others.”
