A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, July 29 at 10 a.m., at the site of the Tish Non Village where housing construction is underway. The site is across the street from Bear River Casino.
The groundbreaking ceremony is for an $18 million construction project including building new tribal housing, a two-story, 31,000 square foot community center, and significant improvements to the water and wastewater facilities. All projects will utilize local contractors, with local jobs benefiting local families. Local multipliers for construction are 2.3, meaning these projects will have a $40 million positive impact on the Humboldt County economy.
Those attending the groundbreaking ceremony will include representatives from the Federal Housing and Urban Development Department, Indian Health Service, JAG Architects, as well as local contractors and Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria.
