The Humboldt Area Foundation scholarship program consists of several funds established by Northcoast individuals, families and organizations to assist local residents in attaining a college education.

Currently, there are 300 scholarships to local students offered through Humboldt Area Foundation and the community. The 2010-2011 scholarship application is now available at www.hafoundation.org or by visiting your school counselor. The deadline for applications to be delivered or post-marked is Monday, March 15, at 5 p.m. Below are a few examples of what grant opportunities are available/

* The Fox Farm scholarship is for Humboldt County graduating high school seniors interested in furthering their education in the fields of agronomy, agriculture, horticulture, or biology.

* The Humboldt Land Surveyor's Memorial Scholarship fosters the development and growth for educational opportunities for Humboldt County graduating or graduated high school students in the field of land surveying.

* The MacAlton Awards provides financial assistance to Humboldt or Del Norte County residents in the fields of mechanical, industrial or vocational arts and sciences, including architecture, carpentry, cabinetry and furniture making.

* The Glenn Stockwell Memorial Scholarship is open to Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity County graduating or graduated high school students and is designed to encourage youth in areas of social activism.
