Michael was born in Scotia on Oct. 10, 1943 and passed away suddenly on Nov. 10, 2011 in Ruth, Calif., where he loved spending time. His parents were Oma and Harold Eglin of Scotia.
He was married for 48 years to his loving wife, Sharron. They were blessed with two daughters, Alison Eglin-Haynes and Gilian Salmon. He is also survived by two of his sisters Linda Ormond of Benicia, Calif., and Barbara Ross of Oklahoma.
Michael attended Scotia Elementary and graduated from Fortuna Union High School in 1961. He started working at a very young age for Bertain's Laundry in Scotia, and retired as Purchasing and Leasing Manager for the Pacific Lumber Company in 1999, after 37 years. Since retiring he served on the board of Lutheran Home for the Aging and one year as President of that board.
He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son-in-law Larry Salmon and grandsons Quentin and Cole. His granddaughters Sharron, Gloria and Gina Smith also spent lots of memorable time with him at the cabin at Ruth, and at his residence in Fortuna. Some of Mike's greatest memories were of hunting and fishing trips that he had with his PALCO buddies and the stories that went with them. He was preceded in death by his parents and two of his sisters, Gwen Abrams-Smith and Gayle Reid.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at his and Sharron's home from 2 to 4 p.m.
