On Oct. 24, 2011 Gertrude (Trudy) Fleischer Curtis passed quietly into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Trudy was born on Nov. 14, 1914 in Garrison, Iowa, and moved with her family to Ferndale at the age of 8. Trudy attended and graduated from Ferndale schools. She learned to fly from Scotia's cow-pasture airfield in 1948 and obtained her Amateur Radio Operator's license in 1960.
Trudy is survived by her sister, Leona Pearce; her son, DelMar Curtis, and his wife, Myrna; her daughter, Pat Merrill, and her husband, Park; and grandchildren, Heidi Merrill Chezum and husband, Rick; Mark Curtis; Dawson Merrill; Denise Curtis Pagett; and Renee Curtis Wynia and husband, Jim. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Wanda Fleischer, and her brothers Richard, Fritz, Leonard, and Herman. A grave-side service will be held on Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Ferndale Cemetery.
