Born David Rae Ashburn in Scotia, Ca. August 14th, 1941, died September 16th, 2011 in Winston, Or. from Cardioresporatory arrest at the age of 70 years. Dave was raised in Hydesville, Ca. and was a class of 1960 Fortuna High grad. As an avid sportsman, he enjoyed playing high school football as a QB.
After high school Dave spent several years in the Oakland (Bay Area), Ca., where he met his current wife Patsy (Hardenbrook-Turner) Ashburn. They were married 42 years and have two sons together. Son Adam (Anya), son Chad, and four grandchildren. Dave's favorite recreation in Oregon was going to Ten Down Bowling Alley and sharing in the fun of bowling on the leagues. He will always be remembered for his lively sense of humor and cracking jokes- even in his last few hours. Dave was a strong husband, loving father and happy grandpa. He will be greatly missed.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents: Robert "Bob" Ashburn (Vera) of S.F. Ca. and Connie "Camron-Ashburn" Randle (Norman) of Trinity Center, Ca, his brother - Russell Camron Ashburn of Canyonville, Or, his cousin - Jerry "Ashburn" Bryant of Ferndale, Ca., his grandfather - Elmer B. Ashburn of Emmittsburg, Iowa, his Grandmother - Mary C. "Fries-Ashburn" Jansen (Geurt) of Fortuna, Ca. His high school buddy Ken Barlow of Fortuna, Ca, lastly his first wife Diane "York-Ashburn" Needham of Tracy, Ca.
Dave left behind numerous relatives. Local 1st cousins include, Sharon "Maki" Simmons of Fortuna, Ca, Richard "Dick" Ashburn also of Fortuna, Ca., Connie "Ashburn" McIntire of Eureka, Ca., long distant cousin, Patti "Maki" Aguiar of Los Gatos, Ca. and many more. Memorial services were held Friday, September 23rd, 2011 at Taylor Mortuary in Winston, Or.
