Marlys Irene (Hahn) Evans was born on March 19, 1923, to Walter Hahn and Alma Brettin in Beach, N.D. She passed away on Sept. 28, 2011, in Sebastopol, Calif., at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1995 and a daughter, Janice in 2005. Marlys and George were married on Dec. 9, 1945. She is survived by a son, James Evans and a daughter-in-law, Barbara (Bassie) Evans. She is survived by four grandchildren, Robin, Franklin, Robert and Jennifer, and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Miranda, and Christian. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lillian and brother, Walter.
Marlys and George lived in the Metropolitian area operating a dairy until the disastrous flood of 1964 when they lost everything. They then moved to Rio Dell until George's passing. She then moved to Antelope, Calif., to be with her daughter and then to Sebastopol to be near Jim. She will be missed by her family, as she had a special spirit about her, always positive and looking at the good in everything.
A memorial service will be held in November in Santa Rosa, Calif.
