Dorothy August passed away in Fortuna on Dec. 28, 2009, at the age of 81. Dorothy was born in Texas on Oct. 31, 1928, to Albert and Ora Gunn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl August. They both enjoyed their time as caretakers for Yager Camp in Carlotta, Calif. They spent their time together handfeeding and raising the wild life until retirement.

She was survived by four children, Sharon Griffith of Rio Dell, Gail Luguin of Oroville, as well as son Ted and daughter Judy; grandchildren, Debora and Gene Stuart of Rio Dell, Gary and Bev Davis of Eureka; great-grandchildren, Ashley Stuart and Sarah Michel; great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Bryce Bell and Kacee Michel.

Dorothy requested that no services be held. A special thanks from the family to Hospice and special friends Rena and Gladyce.
