East African drummers and dancers will take over the stage at Humboldt State University's Van Duzer Theatre Thursday night. “Channeling the energy and creative spirit of a nation through their immense drums and the rituals surrounding them, the Royal Drummers and Dancers have been moving audiences for centuries at celebrations such as births, funerals and the enthronement of Kings,” according to a CenterArts news release. Silly and sly underground rapper Smoov-E out of the Bay Area will headline a show on Friday night at the Red Fox in Eureka along with many special guests including Hiway and Pat Rich. In celebration of Northcoast Horticulture Supply's 10th anniversary, electronic promoters World Famous Productions have put together a show at the Arcata Theatre Lounge slated for Saturday night and featuring Tahoe dub-n-glitch duo Love & Light, electro-funk quintet Fort Knox Five from Washington D.C., DnB trio Thunderball out of D.C. and nu-funk duo the All Good Funk Alliance from Virginia. All existing NHS accounts will receive tickets. A limited number of passes will be available at the door. Happy-hour food and beverage prices will be offered from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Los Angeles alt-hip-hop star Myka 9 of Freestyle Fellowship and Haiku D'Etat fame will take the stage at the Red Fox on Sunday as part of his Sovereign Soul Tour. Special guests Factor, Paranoid Castle and Graves 33 will also perform. The cost of admission for the 21+ show was not determined by press time.
