This year's Christmas Celebration in Song is choral music at its most festive, featuring a rousing African Noel, a haunting Out of the Orient Crystal Skies and a powerful arrangement of Hark the Herald Angels Sing. The choir is accompanied by pianist, Dana Christen, and Beverly Carlson will also conduct.
Singers and musicians of all ages come from McKinleyville to Hydesville to Ferndale for several months of rehearsals to learn and polish challenging music.
The Ferndale Community Choir will offer its first performance of its Christmas Celebration in Song at the Ferndale Community Church, 712 Main Street, Ferndale on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. A reception will follow the performance.
The second performance will be on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m., at Church of the Assumption at 546 Berding St. in Ferndale. Many concert-goers often continue on to Ferndale's annual lighting of America's Tallest Living Christmas Tree at the foot of Main Street at 5:30 p.m.
The final performance will be given on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m., at the Fortuna Christmas Music Festival held at River Lodge, Riverwalk Drive in Fortuna.
