McKinleyville author Tim Martin will be featured in the upcoming “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad.” Martin will have a story in the book entitled “A Quiet Hero,” about his step-father, Ernest McKenzie, a U.S.S. Indianapolis survivor. The Indianapolis was sunk by a Japanese submarine in the closing days of World War II. The ship had a crew of 1,196 men. When they were rescued four days later, only 316 were still alive. The rest died of exhaustion, exposure, and shark attacks. McKenzie was instrumental in saving the lives of several of his shipmates.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad contains 101 Stories about gratitude, love, and good times. According to author Tim Martin, “the book gives fathers the pat on the back they deserve.”

Martin is a screenwriter and a regular contributor to “Chicken Soup for the Soul” is the author of “There's Nothing Funny About Running,” “The Legend of Boomer Jack,” and “The Culverts Of Humboldt County, with other works in the mills. His TV reality show “Foreclosed” is in development with Indigo Films.

”Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad” will be available in bookstores and online at Amazon Books in mid-April.
