Lt. Steve Knight of the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to the Times-Standard that authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in Fieldbrook.
"We are investigating a homicide out there," Knight said.
The sheriff's office detectives will be on scene throughout the night and should have additional information in the morning, Knight said, deferring confirmation of any further details.
Authorities are seeking a suspect tonight after two victims were shot in Fieldbrook, according to Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Lt. Kym Thompson.
The sheriff's office received a report of shots fired in the 4300 block of Fieldbrook Road at around 5:20 p.m., according to Thompson. The Humboldt Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol are now on the scene and are expecting to remain there all night and into the morning. Detectives from the sheriff's office are en route to the scene.
Traffic has been blocked along Fieldbrook Road from Wagle Lane to Anker Road; residents are advised to seek alternate routes, according to Thompson.
No further details regarding the suspect nor the victims were released, and the incident is being investigated as a shooting, according to Thompson.
Scanner traffic indicates that a homicide has occurred within the last hour in Fieldbrook. Authorities are seeking a white import sedan carrying at least one male headed south. A Times-Standard reporter is en route to the scene and more updates will be posted as the story develops.
