Two Humboldt County jail correctional officers saved an inmate's life Friday after she attempted to hang herself, according to officials.
Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Lt. Steve Knight said correctional staff were alerted around 5:15 p.m. to the 43-year-old woman's attempted suicide by her cellmate.
"Correctional staff cut her down, rendered aid and she was transported to a nearby hospital," Knight said. "Doctors say she is recovering and is expected to make a full recovery. They're running some tests to make sure she'll be fine, and then she will be taken to a mental health facility. The correctional officers saved her life."
