Natalie Arroyo announced her candidacy for the 5th Ward seat on the Eureka City Council today.
She is a senior planner at the Redwood Community Action Agency's Natural Resource Division and a Coast Guard Reserve member.
Arroyo spoke about the need to prioritize the city's limited resources and pointed to work done by EPD Chief Andrew Mills "as a wonderful example of using resources creatively to address the greatest needs first."
She also said the city needs to foster "close knit neighborhoods" and talked about the importance of looking at the "big picture." Arroyo said the city needs to get serious about safety now, "so we can put our energy into proper growth and quality of life resources."
