Officials on the lookout for hit-and-run, kidnapping suspect

Officials are on the lookout for a McKinleyville man suspected of running over his girlfriend's leg with a car and kidnapping her, though she was able to escape, Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Jamie Barney said today.

According to Barney, suspect Frank Slade, 40, is described as a white male adult, five feet and nine inches tall, weighing 205 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He is believed to be driving a black 1996 Honda Accord with chrome rims and the license plate 7DMV307. The victim reported today that Slade ran over her leg with her daughter's car and dragged her into the car in the McKinleyville Safeway parking lot at midnight last night, according to Barney.

"She was able to escape somehow at Sutter and Park roads," Barney said. "Officials are looking to charge the suspect with domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, violation of a court order and kidnapping and the district attorney will decide how to proceed. The victim said the car the suspect is driving is her daughter's and she said it was stolen but it hasn't been reported."

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office encourages anyone with information regarding the case or related criminal activity to call them at 445-7251 or the office's crime tip line at 268-2539.
