Two Fortuna brothers were found safe this morning after getting turned around on a trail system near the Headwaters Forest on Friday evening.
"We got a call to dispatch around 8:30 from the father saying he was in contact with his 23-year-old son via cell phone," Fortuna Police Department Sgt. Aaron Starcher said. "They were directed to respond to Fortuna PD. Once they did, we were able to determine they were in good health."
Starcher said the brothers, 23 and 11, had ridden their bikes to the trail on Friday and took a wrong turn. Before they knew it, it was dark and they weren't able to navigate their way back.
The brothers "hunkered down" for the night, and were able to flag down a motorist who drove them to Palmer Boulevard once daylight hit.
