Two suspects sought in McKinleyville attempted robbery

Authorities on Monday were on the lookout for a man and woman wanted on suspicion of attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon in McKinleyville.

Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Lt. Steve Knight said a "be on the lookout" alert was issued at 1:20 p.m. Monday for Lance Borgner, age 24, described as a white male around 6 feet, 190 pounds with brown hair, hazel eyes and neck tattoos, and Christina Higgins, age 24, described as a white female around 5 feet 7 inches tall, 130 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

According to Knight, Borgner approached a car in the Kmart parking lot in McKinleyville, brandishing a canister of bear pepper spray and unsuccessfully demanded money from the car's occupants as Higgins approached the car, according to a sheriff's office press release.

The victims left the parking lot in their car, pursued by the suspects in a white late 1980s Chevy Silverado pickup to the Giuntoli Lane area of Arcata, according to the release, where Borgner rammed the car, forcing it off the road.

The victim then drove to the Arcata Police Department where he reported the incident. The two suspects were last seen driving into the parking lot of Spotlight Video in Arcata, Knight said.

The sheriff's office asks anyone with information regarding this incident to call the office at 445-7251 or its tip line at 268-2539.
