Authorities confirmed Tuesday morning that a 75-year-old Trinidad woman drove down some stairs near a lighthouse in Trinidad the previous day.
"We were notified at 10:30 p.m. that a vehicle had crashed down some stairs at Trinity Street and Edward Street," said Humboldt County Sheriff's Lt. Steve Knight. "The driver was not familiar with the car and went down the stairs, collided with a handrail and landed on the concrete walkway at the bottom."
Knight said the woman stated she was driving at a slow speed. Officers did not determine an actual rate of speed, except that it was believed to be unsafe for the road conditions and that there were 30 feet of skidmarks.
The vehicle was a blue 1997 Ford F-150. The driver's name is not yet being released and there were no injuries.
