Humboldt Bay Fire probes cause of Eureka blaze

Humboldt Bay Fire is investigating the cause of a fire that occurred at Fifth and I streets in Eureka Friday night.

At about 10:15 p.m., crews were dispatched to the scene and found "a large amount of fire" on the exterior of a building on the 700 block of Fifth Street, Battalion Chief Bill Reynolds said. No one was injured, and the blaze was quickly extinguished.

"We're looking at all aspects of what might have caused it," Reynolds said. "At this time, it appears the fire may have started on the exterior of the building."

Damage costs are estimated to be $10,000.
