A new website has been launched to promote Rio Dell and Scotia. The new Rio Dell-Scotia Chamber of Commerce website was launched in mid December and is intended to provide a starting point for people interested in information about the Rio Dell-Scotia area.

The website was designed by Rio Dell-based Problem Solving Applications (PSA), and consultant/service technician Billy Long. Long is a third-generation resident of Rio Dell, according to Jim Rich, chamber president.

"We are really impressed with the new website," Rich said, "and things are just getting started."

Ultimately, according to Rich, the site will allow the Chamber of Commerce to communicate that things are very different than they used to be.

"The site was developed with a focus on 'News, Events, and business Resources,'" Long said, "and the ability to publish and obtain this information in simple and useful ways."

He describes the website as a "living document," where information can be added continually, as it becomes available.

Log on to www.riodellscotiachamber.org and if you are interested in starting a business in Scotia or Rio Dell, there is a list of resources available to help navigate the process. There are links to the California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, information about business licenses, and the ability to download a membership application.

"As the Rio Dell-Scotia Chamber of Commerce moves into 2014, we are seeing some very new and positive changes coming in our community," Rich said. "We are working hard to build membership, which will in turn strengthen our business community as a whole."

Business membership dues are $25 and individual membership dues are $10. The Rio Dell-Scotia Chamber of Commerce meets every third Tuesday at noon at the Pizza Factory in Rio Dell.

Interested members of the public and business representatives are invited to a chamber mixer on Friday in Rio Dell. The gathering will take place at 406 Wildwood Ave., the home of the Chamber of Commerce and the Eagle Prairie Arts District, from 5-7 p.m. The Scotia-Rio Dell Chamber of Commerce can be reached by calling 506-5081.
