The accomplishments of 2013 and what's in store for the New Year in Fortuna will be discussed at the annual State of the City breakfast, scheduled for next Thursday.
Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. at Fortuna's River Lodge, on Thursday, Jan. 16. Doors will open at 7 a.m. and the cost of breakfast is $25 per person.
The breakfast will include updates from city of Fortuna officials and representatives of the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce.
Fortuna City Manager Regan Candelario will give details of some of the accomplishments of 2013, including the annexation of property in the Riverwalk area, which was completed in May after approval form the Local Agency Formation Commission. The Tractor Supply Company store that is currently under construction in that area is slated to open for business in February.
Other projects completed in the Friendly City last year were the bike park at Newburg Park, the dog park on Dinsmore Drive, and new bocce ball courts at Rohner Park.
City of Fortuna department heads are expected to give a summary of activities and accomplishments, and Fortuna Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Erin Dunn is expected to update the breakfast attendees on chamber activities.
The third class of the Leadership Fortuna program is also expected to be introduced at the State of the City Breakfast.
