Those looking for a way to support athletic and extracurricular activities in Ferndale will have an opportunity to do so this weekend at the 2nd annual Community Homecoming fundraiser.

The dinner, dance, and silent auction event will be held Saturday at the Ferndale Community Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $25 each. It is being planned and sponsored by Ferndale Youth Incorporated and the Ferndale High School Booster Club.

"This is an event for the entire community," said planning co-chair Pat Cowan. "Proceeds will be used to support both the athletic and extracurricular activities for the youth of Ferndale. It's a good time for a good cause."

Cowan said in this challenging economic time, the two groups are looking to form stronger partnerships with individuals and organizations to support the youth of Ferndale. Both groups ask that they be contacted by anyone who knows of an individual young person and/or youth group team that could benefit from financial support.

The planning group promises "surprise entertainment to bring the crown to their feet." Plus there are very special items to be included in the silent auction. For instance, a four-course gourmet meal for six people, prepared and served by the 2013-2014 Ferndale Varsity girls Basketball Team.

Tickets are available at Becker's Insurance on Main Street in Ferndale and by calling 599-4406 or emailing ferndaleboosters@yahoo.com This is a 21 years old and older event.
