Ferndale Youth Incorporated supports local athletics

Athletic activities at Ferndale High School have been some of the programs to benefit from financial donations from Ferndale Youth Incorporated (FYI). FYI is a non-profit group that was formed in 2006 by individuals with connections to the schools and youth in the Ferndale community.

The group has just created a new website (www.ferndaleyouthinc.com) which includes information about the organization and its most recent donations. According to the website, the mission of the group is "dedicated to supporting activities and education of the youth of the Ferndale community."

In the challenging current economic climate, the website states, FYI is looking to form strong partnerships with individuals and organizations with similar or parallel goals.

"FYI has donated nearly $4,000 in the past two years, with the last one to help the track program at Ferndale High School," said FYI Treasurer Pat Cowan.

FYI served as the fundraising umbrella for the Ferndale high School Girls Basketball Team (the 2013 HDNL Little 4 Division champions) to raise money to cover the team's expenses, and also made a recent donation to the Ferndale High School Girls Athletic Fund.

In conjunction with the Ferndale High School Booster Club, FYI is inviting everyone to an upcoming fundraiser to support athletic activities and extracurricular activities for the youth of Ferndale.

The 2nd Annual Community Homecoming Dinner, Dance, and Silent Auction fundraiser will take place Nov. 2 at the Ferndale Community Center. Cocktails are at 6:30 p.m., with dinner served from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and are available by calling 707-599-4406 or by email, ferndaleboosters@yahoo.com.
