Angi Caudill is putting her 18 years of cheer coaching to work in her new business Bow2Toe, where her and her team of coaches specializes in tumbling. The business is located at 1103 Main St. in Fortuna and is new to the local youth.

"Dancers and tumblers use their entire body from head to toe," Caudill said, explaining the business' name. "Bows are required in my gym. I explain to the students that the bow is like a costume. When they put that bow in, I want them to change into that attitude."

Caudill is no stranger to the world of tumbling as she has competed in nationals bringing home four second place titles and one national title, and has been coaching in a local school.

"I love teaching new students," Caudill said. "Having the gym has made it so I can offer tumbling to more than just my middle school girls."

Jayme Totten is the main tumbling coach at Bow2Toe and like Caudill grew up in the cheerleading field.

"We specialize in tumbling, and have really amazing tumbling coaches," Caudill said. "We have 60 girls in five-week sessions currently and 14 girls in tumbling camp this week."

Caudill explained that even the tiny perform in tumbling.

"We just finished a very successful preschool camp -- 'bug'gie down camp -- where even the preschoolers made their own costumes," Caudill said.

There are three camps still running through the end of summer that have room. Although Caudill said, "All of my five-week tumbling classes are full right now, but in the fall I will have more classes starting the Tuesday after Labor Day."

The next cheer camp will be held Aug. 12 through Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be for fifth through eighth grades.

Tumbling and dance is a great source of exercise for youth who do not enjoy the traditional forms of sports like basketball, volleyball, baseball, and such. Bow2Toe believes they are providing skills, exercise, and strength that youth need to keep their bodies strong all while having fun.

Bow2Toe is offering a Creative Kids Camp in August where kids will be making their own crafts, snacks, performances, music mixes, and be supported by the staff in their independent creativity.

"The cheer and dance world is really pushing tumbling in all routines," Caudill said. "We specialize in tumbling. We will be offering future cheer star classes, lyrical funk, hip hop, and tumbling for all ages in the fall."
