Men's breakfast tournament held at Redwood Empire

A total of 116 golfers, the most ever, took part recently in Redwood Empire Golf and Country Club's first Men's Gang Breakfast tournament of 2013.

According to REG&CC Head Pro Greg Senestraro, there has been a downturn in the number of golfers nationwide over the past five years.

"Golf is struggling in the U.S. and we have our own challenges at Redwood Empire," Senestraro said. "However, we keep setting attendance records each year in our events such as this and our annual Southern Humboldt Masters tournament in June."

Of the 29 four-man teams in the cha-cha-cha tourney, the net winning score was 119, or 25-under par. The winning team was comprised on Bob Walker, Colton Brodt, and Ben and Shane McWhorter.

There was a tie for second place at 121, 23-under par. The two teams were: Jason Woodward, Sal Chinnici, Walt Chaton and Zach Mohrmann; and Jason McCandless, Matt Pidgeon, Mark Miranda and Blake Renner.
