Every year the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce breaks their traditional Wednesday mixer date to hold their annual Fat Tuesday mixer at Umpqua Bank. This year's mixer, one of the year's best attended, was co-hosted by Don Brown of State Farm Insurance.

The festivities began at 5:30 p.m. with everyone entering the door and receiving their beads. Some repeat attendees already had the previous year's beads to add to their festive attire.

Business cards are dropped for a drawing of wonderful prizes donated by chamber members and businesses. Ron Grimm and Julie Winburn held the winning ticket to take home $95 from this year's traditional 50/50 mixer drawing.

One of the highlights of Fat Tuesday Mixer is the mask competition. There are always some very festive creations and this year Dawna Kyber of Redwood Capital Bank won the $50 prize with her multicolored feathered mask in true Mardi Gras fashion.

Hops in Humboldt presented the Fortuna Depot Museum with a check for $500 to help support the continued running of the historical museum at Rohner Park in Fortuna.

The event would not be in true Fat Tuesday tradition without king cakes, hurricane punch, and the chamber spirit of Fat Tuesday throughout the event.

Syd Myers shared, "As usual this was a very fun and successful mixer. Thank you to Umpqua Bank and Don Brown State Farm Insurance for a great time with good food and drinks."
