The North Coast chapter of California Women in Timber has reached out to the local community to support education. 2012 brought over $14,500 in donations from CWIT to various organizations and education.

During 2012 CWIT donated $3,000 to the Forestry Institute for Teachers Program for the North Coast, $3,000 to the Redwood Region Logging Conference Education Day, $4,500 in Scholarships to Humboldt State University and College of the Redwoods, $3,000 to Talk About Trees presentations to elementary schools, and $1,000 for public education about legislative and industry items.

CWIT was able to support all of these programs due to their past annual dinner auction and shotgun raffle.

This year the CWIT annual dinner auction will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, at Baywood Gold & Country Club. They will again be raffling off a shotgun with the drawing being held at the annual dinner. This event will help support donations and scholarships for the 2013 year.

This year the shotgun raffle is for a 12-gauge Benelli Super Vinci Shotgun with Comfortech plus in Real Tree Max 4 Camo. It accepts 2 -3/4" to 3-1/2" shells and has a 28" barrel with three chokes and comes in a case.

Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and you need not be present to win. Tickets for the raffle are available from any CWIT member, the night of the annual dinner, by calling Linda Herron at 668-4458 or Dorothy Bianchi at 839-3089.
