Riding for life

Teams of riders and horses relayed around the Ferndale Fairground racetrack Saturday in the HERO Ride for Life. The local event has raised over $144,000 since its establishment for cancer research and support services. This figure includes approximately $27,800 raised this year with 69 riders participating. Holly LaCount founded the first event in the country in 2005 while a freshman at Eureka High School. She continues to organize the event every year and is pictured front and center above.
