The Rio Dell City Council approved Tuesday a two-year employment agreement with James Stretch to be the new city manager.

Stretch, who has served as interim city manager twice, is familiar with the Rio Dell's affairs and is an experienced and capable manager, according to a Rio Dell press release. The position will be a half-time. Stretch will begin his job on June 4, according to the release.

"I believe the city is fortunate to have Jim again," said Rio Dell Mayor Julie Woodall in a written statement. "He is dedicated to good government and the welfare of our residents and businesses. Jim will be an asset to our community and work well with the council."

Once Stretch begins the job, Rio Dell's current city manager Ron Henrickson will retire and move back to Minnesota to spend more time with his grandchildren, according to the city.
