Parole search in Rio Dell leads to arrest; stolen fire department equipment recovered

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, at around 1 p.m., a detective with the Fortuna Police Departments' Investigation Unit and an officer with the Rio Dell Police Department conducted a parole search on North Street in Rio Dell.

While conducting a search of the residence, officers located a Kenwood radio, several types of ammunition, a firearm with a manufactured lighting device attached, drug paraphernalia and about ten pounds of processed marijuana. The radio was identified as a piece of equipment that had been stolen from the Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department on Sept. 13.

The resident, Wesley Lavern Evans, 31, was placed into custody for the following violations of the law: possession of stolen property, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of parole. Evans was booked into the Humboldt County Jail.
