On Saturday, Nov. 12, in response to an ongoing investigation, officers from the Fortuna Police Department served a search warrant at an apartment in the 100 block of 12th Street.
The investigation was started after officers received information that one of the suspects in the case was providing methamphetamine and heroin to minors in the apartment complex. One of those the minors had to be treated at a local hospital for complications resulting from suspected heroin use.
During the search warrant, officers discovered weapons, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Three subjects were arrested in connection with the warrant: Breanne Dunsing, 25, of Fortuna, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor; Edmund Kotterman, 28, of Fortuna, possession of marijuana (more the one ounce); and William Williams, 37, of Fortuna, for being a felon in possession of firearms, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of marijuana (more than one ounce)
Sgt. Ellebrecht of the Fortuna Police said, "While the sales and use of controlled substances is strictly enforced by our department, this location was within sight of our local high school and frequented my many minor's which is a great concern to our department."
All three suspects were booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
