The man who allegedly broke into Sandra Bullock's house around 6:30 a.m. Sunday had a machine gun, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

And, apparently, he wasn't there to steal anything. He was there for Bullock.

If Chris Evans ever needed an excuse to don the Captain American uniform and move in, he just found it.

Joshua Corbett, 39, was charged with felony burglary, as well as possession of a machine gun and stalking.

Bullock was at her Southern California home when Corbett allegedly broke in. She locked herself in a room until police arrived. Her 4-year-old son, Louis, was with a nanny and not there.

Sources told TMZ this wasn't a burglary. Corbett reportedly didn't want to hurt Bullock, but did want a face-to-face conversation.

Well ... yeah. A lot of us would like face time with Sandra Bullock. But machine guns don't necessarily impress girls ... unless they're from Texas.

Prosecutors told the website that Corbett didn't have the machine gun when he was arrested, which probably is one reason why he's alive today. Officers found it later.

Bullock's publicist Cheryl Maisel told People magazine that Bullock is "unharmed and fine."
